HR.1927: Assuring and Improving Cancer Treatment Education and Cancer Symptom Management Act of 2009 - A bill to amend title XVII of the Social Security Act to provide comprehensive cancer patient treatment education under the Medicare Program and to provide for research to improve cancer symptom management: This bill would provide Medicare coverage to physician practices for a one-hour, one-on-one session for patients (and their caregivers) with a registered nurse to learn about all aspects of their treatment, including possible side effects, symptoms, and how to manage them - and when to reach out to their health care providers.

 

HR.716/S.488: Access to Cancer Clinical Trials Act of 2009: A bill that would prohibit group health insurance plans from denying an eligible patient participation in clinical trials, overseen by the Food and Drug Administration, related to the treatment of his or her cancer. The bill would insure that Medicare covers the cost of clinical trials for those enrolled in the Medicare program.
